The very first kiss,I do not recall,
for I, you see was very small.
But someone was happy to welcome me in,
to a place in their heart where empty had been.
The next, I remember was painful and long,
I could not imagine just what had gone wrong.
He said that he loved me but he couldnt stay,
And that was the kiss, that took trusting away.
And then I remember that kisses were gone,
and started to wonder if kisses were wrong.
Instead of beginnings, they seemed to mark ends,
and thats where youd lose all your family and friends.
So kisses were arrows and targets I wore,
avoiding the piercing yet keeping the score.
And each time I witnessed another love kissed,
I knew deep inside that they soon would be missed.
Then I learned kissing was merely a key,
that opened the door to what soon was to be.
Four little heartbeats fell into my hands,
And I thought perhaps now ,I would understand.
But like his intentions,his kiss was a lie,
the hurt and deceit was just waiting inside.
And when he had finished and all had gone wrong,
again i looked up and the kisses were gone.
A kiss is a promise of things that should be,
A kiss is bond that is so strong....its free.
A kiss is a comfort that loving hearts bear,
A kiss is a promise, youll always be there.
A kiss, like an eagle...comes one at a time,
and each one is special and has its own rhyme.
They should never be wasted on lips that speak lies,
or used to wipe tears from deceitful, cold eyes.
They never should comfort a heart full of greed,
or land on the cheek, of one with no need.
They never should promise what cannot be kept,
or make better the tears that should not have been wept.
Im sure there is something inside of a kiss,
that somehow in my life,I seemed to have missed.
But life is not over and one day Ill see,
that even a kiss holds a meaning for me
So if you should wonder why kisses are few,
please dont feel slighted, I do this for you.
I know you would rather have one kiss thats meant,
than a thousand ones empty, and hastily spent.
And when were together perhaps I will see, the meaning of kisses that you give to me.
Your hearts and your eyes and your words, Ill find true.....
and thats why Im saving my kisses for you.
